ROUGE is a Feature-length documentary film Directed by Hamoody Jaafar, Produced by Razi Jafri. ROUGE follows the story and legacy of River Rouge basketball; one of the winningest high school basketball teams in the US, located in the nation’s poorest zip code.

ROUGE unpacks the social, economic, and environmental histories of “Down River” a South Detroit community who for decades has bore the brunt of economic divestment and environmental injustice. These issues are paralleled to the historic success of a local basketball team and the students who today persevere this legacy and create their own legacy on the shoulders of giants who came before them.
